Clincial... as if the child feels nothing
When you're able to pull a child who is fully formed and likely viable from the womb of a woman, stabbing scissors through his skull and suctioning out his brain, you've not only started to slide down a slippery slope - you've grabbed your granddad's favorite wooden sled, greased the skates and bet your friend $20 that you could make it to the bottom of the hill faster than he could.
I have no idea how we've gotten to this point, but we've successfully dehumanized infants. No longer are children safe within the wombs of their mothers, and no longer are they safe once they make it out of that jungle alive.
Katrina Effert, a 19 year old woman at the time, gave birth to a little boy and subsequently strangled him, tossing his body into a neighbor's yard. Twice a jury convicted her of murder, and twice the ruling was overturned by a judge who felt jailtime wasn't really necessary because, well... "infanticide" isn't really as serious as murder.
So exactly how is the killing of a child any different from the killing of an adult? Unless, of course, we don't view children as "fully human." Considering an infant isn't legally "human" before, during, or even 99.9% out of the birth canal, how far is the jump to decide that the infant isn't human for a minute, hour, or a month after birth?
Seems the Netherlands already is well on its way to answering that.
Then again, with articles like this, it seems like the US is attempting to grab a sled and hitch a ride down south as well.
Catholic Fire, a blog I've been following, posted a great video that dissects everything that is wrong with the NY Time's article. And God bless Father Barron for his gentle chide. He was much more charitable in his approach than I was when I first read the article.
But I digress...
The point of this post is to highlight, as so many others have done (and better, might I add, especially the blog I just linked you to... I stalk her daily), the magnitude of moral decay being experienced by humanity. Never have we been so inundated with such treachery against children. We allow the likes of Casey Anthony to walk free, and now Katrina Effert... and the countless other criminals who somehow bend the system to excuse their treachery. What have we become? How have we allowed the most innocent among us to become the biggest target? One that we neglect to even admit as even BEING a target!
Oh - my heart, my heart. This is why I took so long to write this blog. It's so painful. It is mind-bogglingly painful to acknowledge that humanity has tumbled so far down the spiral of sin that there is no hope of climbing out save the Illumination. Dear God, grant us this mercy quickly. That mercy will save untold numbers of souls.
The Illumination, for those unaware, has been promised by God through several visionaries (Garabandal, Medjugorie, various saints, etc). It is a brief span of time in which every single soul on Earth (from the age of reason, about 7 and up) will see themselves as God sees them. In other words, every sin, every good deed, every opportunity taken or missed for grace will be laid out before us in the light of the Eternal Truth. This supernatural event is meant to be an undeniable sign that God not only exists, but is calling each of us into Union with Him. It is a Mercy beyond all Mercies because we will experience 1st-hand what "judgement" is like. Yet instead of being judged, we will have the opportunity to amend our ways.
So yes... I await the Illumination with absolute joy and anticipation. In my mind, that is the only way humanity will ever remove itself from the clutches of such intense, unbearable evil.
What are we doing to ourselves??? To our children??? How can we attempt to play God in so careless and selfish a manner???
This NY Times article is so mind-boggling disgusting I barely have words to express my disdain. There simply is no way to read this and not come away knowing what a crime and deplorable act of murder abortion truly is... even IVF and other false fertility methods. They ALL open the door to an evil insurmountable save through the Grace of God.
In hopeful news, this beautiful "Life" Rosary floated across Chicago's skyline in Friday, August 12th. Father Z. was kind enough to post it on his blog, and I'm now sharing it with you.

And again, as I posted a couple days ago, we need THIS ROSARY now more than ever.
Pray, pray and pray some more. Never think any of your heartfelt prayers are said in vain. Offer them to Our Lady and allow her to do with them as She pleases. She knows best what to do with prayers.
While down in Ocean City this weekend, I came across one of the most wonderful rosary manifestations I'd ever seen. It is called the "Rosary for the Unborn." Each "Hail Mary" bead is a blue teardrop encasing the small body of an unborn child. The "Our Father" beads are crimson red crosses, signifying the innocent blood shed by these aborted children.
The promises attached to this rosary are immense, and I'd like to spread the devotion as much as possible. Our Lady and Jesus both promise that for every "Hail Mary" said from a loving heart using this rosary, the life of a child who would otherwise be aborted will be saved. That's 53 children per mystery... 203 for a whole rosary (all 4 Mysteries)! You could, in fact, save an extra soul if you offer another Hail Mary up for the Pope's intentions upon completion of the full rosary!
Even more awesome? If only one person is praying with this rosary in a group setting, all rosaries are accepted with the same promises. So couple your prayers with the prayers of others, and think of how many lives you can save! How many priests you can bring into the world... how many doctors, teachers, and wonderful people!

Now it's important to note where these revelations come from. The visionary in question is Maureen Sweeney-Kyle. She has not been approved by the Vatican. In fact, a Bishop of Cleveland cautioned against following her "Holy Love Ministries." However, several other Bishops and members of the clergy have countered the former's caution with brilliant recommendations. As always, it is up to the reader to discern through prayer their feelings on these reported apparitions. I, for one, was very moved by these stories and cannot find anything wrong with the devotion of this particular rosary... especially considering the need for such graces in a time so marked by abortion.
Another abortion worker has stepped forward. Thank you, Jewels Green, for your courage.
There's a wonderful quote from Jeannie French, founder of the National Women's Coalition for Life in which she says, "The answer to crisis pregnancy is to eliminate the crisis, not the child."
Another favorite is actually from Ronald Reagan, which he probably picked up from another pro-life leaflet at some point. He made the observation that "Everyone who is pro-abortion has already been born." Funny, isn't it?
It's disturbing to me that people have become so callous and hardened to this very real massacre committed worldwide. Since we've hidden these deaths under the guise of "legality" and "choice" we have immunized ourselves against the reality of what abortion is. To snuff out life, at its most innocent and basic level, is so far beyond the realm of reprehensible that I simply can't find words to highlight my heartbreak.
In the coming weeks, I promised a few friends a detailed blog on abortion. At this point in time, I've had trouble voicing my opinions because the topic is so painful for me. Now that I have my own precious little boy, I can't help but put his face on all those others who never got the chance to take their first breath. I can't help but weep for those children who - while FULLY FEELING - had their lives taken in cruel, painful and inhumane ways. Thus, I will gloss over this sensitive topic until I can find the strength to delve further into the abyss of sin, selfishness, evil and disrespect that this abomination is.
St. Gianna, pray for those women who are faced with this decision - that they come to appreciate the life within them and resolve to take responsibility for the choices they've made through the unyielding love and care they provide to the blessings they carry within them.
St. Joseph, pray for the fathers of these children - that they have the strength, courage and wisdom to support the mothers who are faced with this decision in a moral way, and that they look with joy and responsibility upon the acceptance of so great a blessing for all eternity.
