Ladies (and thoughtful gentlemen), here's a chance for you to win my favorite veil from Michelle over at Liturgical Time! I'm so excited to announce this give-away! The beautiful chapel veil you see above is a floral and butterfly themed fabric that is light and easy to wear. It's sides are long enough to tie kerchief-style which means it'll stay put (useful when wrangling tiny hands that would give anything to play with Mommy's hair). Entrance is easy, and you even have a chance to double (and triple) up! How to Enter: (Each bullet counts as a chance to win) - Leave a comment telling me which of Michelle's veils you like the best (and be sure to include your e-mail so I have a way to contact you - those remain hidden, and I don't do mailing lists, so no worries about privacy or spam).
- Repost this giveaway on your own blog (and come back providing me with a link that proves you did so). - "Like" My Broken Fiat on Facebook. - Bonus points for anyone who wants to share their story of how they came to veil. Just be sure to leave that as a separate "comment" so it gets counted as a separate entry. Submissions end Saturday night. I'll announce the winner on Mother's Day. Best wishes and a million blessings to all of you!

Oh dear. :) That's a tough one! I love all of them with complete and sinful immoderation, though if I had to choose, it would be the Lace Mantilla Chapel Veil Church Headcovering in burgundy. I literally lost my breath when I saw that one. Given THAT, I would have to special-order THREE of them - one in the original color for Lent and Advent (and to celebrate the times I streak my hair purple), one in blue to honor our Lady, and one in brown, as a nod to the fact that I'm currently in the beginning stages of exploring a vocation as a Third Order Franciscan. :)

As for when/why I started veiling... I've actually just begun on the road there, and am taking the plunge on Mother's Day! I never thought much (anything) about it till the recent thread over at Garlands of Grace - I followed it from a link, and it led me here to you, Gina - and have been thinking pretty consistently and steadily since then. (Hee. I don't think making anyone a more conservative Catholic was what they had in mind when they said that they were praying for us all)... In any case, my final motivator is a really cruddy left knee. I can't always kneel, and in my mind, veiling is an absolute and beautiful equivalent.

I don't veil, but can I enter anyway for my friend who does? This would be a nice gift for her.

Butterfly print organza is my favorite. I've never seen one tied like that before. Thank goodness she's got a video tutorial.

I posted this to FB, not a blog (I don't have a blog). Can that count as a separate entry?

The one you're giving away is my favorite. I agree with another of your posts about the lace mantillas making me feel like I'm trying to be holier-than-thou. They're really pretty, just not for me. The other butterfly one is super nice, too. The top lavendar one would be perfect with a spring outfit I bought a few weeks back, though. This is worse than shoe shopping! :)

Would I be breaking the rules if I said I liked the mug the best?

I'm not catholic. I'm protestant, but I still like your blog. Found you through GOG's fb page (your post about the apology is still up)

@ Michelle - LoL!!!! I think she was referring to my post suggesting they GIVE us an apology. Ha. It had gotten a few snarky responses (which I abruptly deleted), but that was about it. Otherwise, they've been completely mum on the entire subject save for the "scriptural digs" they mistakenly think they take at the Church.

Is it too late to enter? I am a recent RCIA candidate, (I entered the church at the Easter Vigil this year) and I have been interested in veiling since I first began coming to Mass. I have never had the true guts to do it because I used to go to a Newman Center Mass, (in a liberal parish, no less!).
