How many of you are aware of / taking part in Wear a Veil to Mass Day on December 8th? It's starting to gain traction on my newsfeed where it's mostly been puttering along. I'm glad to see the trend starting to blossom. For those of you unfamiliar, the idea is as simple as it sounds. We are calling on women to don the veil for one day - the Feast of the Immaculate Conception - in order to raise awareness for this traditional (and oft-neglected) sacramental. Sacramental? Yes! Sacramental! The chapel veil is an outward sign of an inward faith. Since women personify the sacred vocation of Mother Church as Bride to Christ, each time we wear a veil we act as living iconography. It's not a way for us to seem holier than the rest of the congregation; it's a way for us to embrace the place God created for us and the unique roles we play in His Family. With that being said, how many of you are taking part? How many of you are discerning the call to veil? I'd like to help you along. You guys know I've got a ton of veils (infinity, mantilla, tie-back, etc). I want to give three away to you! To participate, leave a comment below stating your feelings on the veil and why you'd like to win one! I'd love to hear from folks who already veil. Leave your testimony as to how veiling has enriched your spiritual lives! Good luck! I will randomly select 3 winners on Sunday! **Please note that this contest is over. I'll post the winners shortly!**

I am sooo on the fence and undecided about veiling. I want to, but I know myself, and I fear it would be a huge temptation to spiritual pride for me. But if I won one? Just might be the push I need ;-)

I'm on again/off-again on veiling. I did it for several years full-time and now only during a EF mass. I'd like to get back into veiling at both EF and OF Mass ... but still am not totally sure.

I am new to the faith. I would love to veil. The meaning and the catholic faith are both beautiful. Every time I am at mass I feel a presence and a longing to veil. I would love to win one.

I always wear a veil to Mass - started at an EF parish and then because an OF Mass is the same sacrifice, I decided to veil at all Masses - so I'll be veiling on the 8th!

I've felt compelled to cover my hair, but didn't want to be conspicuous in a veil (I'm not a "look at me" person) at my Novus Ordo mass (That's all there is around here). So I've been wearing hats for quite a while and have become comfortable with that, although I wasn't at first. Maybe now is the time to transition to a veil.

I am feeling the tug to veil, but only one or two ladies at my church do. I am not quite sure I have the guts. My family already stands out so much having 9 kids. I hesitate because I feel like everyone will stare at me. Also, how will my 1 and 2-year-olds not rip it off my head? :) I am still thinking and praying about it. Perhaps winning a veil would give me a little God push.

I really like veiling but I dislike standing out, so I only do it when I go to a TLM -- actually a big part of why I sometimes seek out a TLM is so that I can veil without it seeming weird.

I've veil at the TLM, but not usually at the NO. I would really stand out in our regular parish with a veil, as I would be one of two veiling. I really focus better when veiling at the TLM, even though I go there without my DH and with all the kids. It is a devotion very dear to my heart and helps me feel connected to the many women saints who came before me.

I veil - I'm a new convert and came to veiling after reading about it in May this year. I started with Corinthians, then with reading the interpretations from 1919, Vatican 2 and the 1983 Canon Law. I then considered being more 'Mary-like' and veiling as a Marian devotion. To me, it's about being humble before the Blessed Sacrament. I feel so much more focused on the Mass. I was concerned about the stares of others but it's never been a concern. It's starting to make a comeback here. I go to mass to be in Communion with Our Lord, not to be worried about the states of others 😊

I would love to wear the veil in Honor of Our Blessed Mother and for her continued intercession for our salvation. It is also the rememberance of my mother and father's wedding anniversary, although my father is no longer with us. (It would have been their 64th) My own mother, Stella, would love to wear the veil on that day. God Bless and Thank You.

So I never thought about veiling until a few months ago when a friend of mine wrote a blog post about it. I have recently returned to the Catholic faith and this return has come with a genuine desire to understand the faith I took for granted for so long. Growing up it seemed to me that the only people who veiled were the "extra holy" women. No one ever explained the history or purpose behind it. As I'm falling more and more in love with the history of the Church veiling is something I'm interested in trying.

These are lovely veils. I have a difficult time veiling because I am afraid that other people are looking at me the whole time. Confidence is key, I suppose. What lovely veils. You are shining brightly for the Lord!

I have just starting discerning if I should veiling since I am also discerning the religious life. As this next year is the year of consecrated life, I feel that this is perfect time to start. Also, I hope that it will help me with my discernment, and draw me deeper into communion with Our Lady and our Lord.

I am a new convert and wasn't even aware that veiling was a thing. I have just started to research it more, and see the importance. But, no one at my Parish wears a veil and I DO NOT like to stand out. But, perhaps it could be an outward sign of faith from me to my Parish and get some folks to look into the tradition? I don't know what kind of veils are which, but the lacey ones are breathtaking!
